Why Choose Lions Online Academy?
Lola is integrated with our traditional courses, with classroom teachers as our online instructors. Therefore, all typical school experiences are available to all of our students, such as:
· Extracurricular activities, sports, clubs
· Dances, field trips, assemblies
· Career and Technical Center
· Guidance, counseling, career exploration, college preparation
· Individualized scheduling options
· Face to face tutorials
· Curricular adaptations
Scheduling Options in LOLA
Blended: combines a course schedule of both traditional classroom and online courses, with typical daily attendance 7:30am to 2:20pm.
Hybrid: combines a course schedule of both traditional classroom and online classes which are completed off campus. Attendance is monitored through Pace chart progress and login activity. This individualized option accommodates both a.m. or p.m. physical and/or emotional needs.
Cyber: provides exclusively online courses to fulfill graduation credit requirements. This classification may allow students to report to the LOLA lab to work at designated times or days.
Remediation: uses online courses with instruction on key components of curriculum in a “summer school” class format.
Identification of LOLA students
Transcripts are pulled for every upper-class student, to be reviewed for appropriate grade level expectations as set in the Student Handbook. Transcripts with failed courses, transfers from other districts, CTC attendance may result in a schedule change by Guidance Counselors, including cyber options. Other considerations for LOLA admission may include (G)IEP, Homebound, 504, Alternative Education, attendance, SAP recommendations.
Academic Support for LOLA Students at the High School
LOLA students are removed from study halls to report to the LOLA lab which is staffed by high school teachers to coach students to complete lessons on a personalized Pace chart. This model provides greater success than independent work done outside of the tutorial lab.
Equipment provided on an “as needed” basis, determined by the LOLA Director with the family.
Consideration for internet accessibility can be addressed by the district Superintendent.
