Early Annual Notice
The New Brighton Area School District offers a full continuum of special education
programs and services to all eligible students. Special education programs and services
are available for eligible children ages three (3) to school entry age five (5) before
September 1 and may be requested by contacting Mrs. Lori Murtha at the Beaver Valley
Intermediate Unit at 724-774-7800. Services for eligible students of school entry age
through twenty-one (21) years of age may be requested by contacting Mr. Nick Long at
724-843-1795 Ext. 403.
Special Education programs and services are available for all eligible students who are
identified as:
- Developmentally Delayed
- Intellectual Disability
- Learning Disabled
- Autistic/Pervasive Developmental Disorder
- Visually or Hearing Impaired
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Gifted Program
- Multi-handicapped
- Neurologically Impaired
- Physically/Health Impaired
- Seriously Emotionally Disturbed
- Speech and Language Impaired
The New Brighton Area School District provides a full continuum of special education
programs and services necessary to provide our students with a Free Appropriate Public
Education in the Least Restrictive Environment.
The New Brighton Area School District has an on-going Child Study process used to
identify students in need of special services and specially designed instruction. Child
Study is conducted in each building, (elementary, middle and high school) through-out
the school year. Requests can be made by contacting your child’s guidance counselor.
These programs and services are also available to New Brighton families who have
